It’s been a decade in the making, but The Wreckers are finally coming back together for a one night engagement.

Michelle Branch of the former country duo planned to bring her personal setlist of songs to Nashville for a show on Sunday, August 13, and decided it was the perfect moment to welcome her former partner, Jessica Harp, back to the stage to perform a couple of their old-school classics. Not only has the duo not released new music since their debut album dropped in 2006, but they also haven’t seen each other in seven years.

“When you go through a breakup, and you see all of your ex’s friends around — that’s what Nashville started to feel like,” Branch told The Tennessean of her decision to leave Music City in an interview.

The tour Branch set out on is in promotion of her new record, Hopeless Romantic. Taking all the negativity over the past few years—from the end of The Wreckers to getting dropped from her label in 2014—Branch decided to use music as her therapeutic creation and let her music do most of the talking for now.

“It really felt like my life was a snow globe, and someone turned it upside down,” she says. “And when it cleared, nothing was in its right place. … And I do think that was necessary in order to make this record, as confusing and scary and painful as it was at times. It’s definitely nice to be out on the other end and see that it actually led to some positive stuff in my life.”

The Wreckers were known for their radio hits, such as “Leave the Pieces” and “My Oh My.” After releasing their album, Stand Still, Look Pretty, back in 2006, the two went their own ways to pursue music and haven’t collaborated since.

Branch will take the stage at Marathon Music Works on Sunday, August 13, at 8 p.m. CT.
